About UXinsight

UXinsight is the largest European community for everyone passionate about UX research ❤️, based in the Netherlands.

Our mission is to facilitate the growth of the UXR community – in size, maturity and levels of impact. And we want to do that with you.

A community effort - by UX researchers for UX researchers

Learning from and with each other is valuable, faster and more fun than learning in isolation.

At UXinsight, UXR professionals share their knowledge and experience and learn equally from others. Everyone brings their own experience and expertise.

We love connecting people! Some examples:

  • Program committee – Since the first edition of our UXR conference in 2017 – the UXinsight Festival – we have been working with volunteers to build the program. Working with a new team every year brings diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences.
  • Think Tank – In 2023, we established the Think Tank, a group dedicated to discussing various topics about our UXR conference. These topics include the conference format, best practices, value and ROI, personal safety and space. We are delighted to have their enthusiasm and valuable insights.

Our roots

After working in the field since 2000, Karin den Bouwmeester, the founder of UXinsight, started a UX research consulting agency in 2012 (Userproof). Over the years, she offered training and user research services to large enterprises, e-commerce companies, non-profits, agencies and the government.

When coaching and training clients, she noticed that many UX researchers and designers faced similar struggles – being the only one in their company, explaining the value of UX research, unsure how to tackle specific issues. They sought ways to expand their knowledge and connect with like-minded people.

In 2013, Karin started organising local UX research meetups: small gatherings of peers coming together to exchange, learn and discuss issues at hand. There was so much demand and enthusiasm that in 2017, this grew into the first European conference dedicated to UX research and the birth of UXinsight.

The conference’s success created a need for further professionalisation. This led to Debbie Slijpen joining UXinsight in 2018 with her background in event management and anthropology and her interest in bringing people together. Karin and Debbie now form the core of the UXinsight team.

UXinsight has hosted in-person and online UX research conferences every year since then, attracting hundreds of UX professionals worldwide.
